ZjDRQMCD

Here is the next Interview in 2016, its Darryl van der Peijl from the Netherlands.

From time to time I will ask some of my colleagues from the community if they are interested to answer some Questions, so here we are.

From this point now, Darryl will answer my Questions, at the end I will let you know where to connect with Darryl and where his Community work is available.

Small Introduction of you and what you are doing

My name is Darryl van der Peijl based in the Netherlands.
Currently working for Inovativ which is a consulting company focussed on Microsoft technolgies and we’re doing lots of cool stuff. I’m awarded as Microsoft MVP and blog regulary on my own blog and hyper-v.nu which is a community blog.

What was your way to IT?

It all started when my dad bought his first PC and I was really interested in the technology.
Soon all my neighbors were needing my help with computers and I decided to follow a education focusing on IT in Amsterdam because I didn’t had a vision for a career.
I ended up at a service provider for internship and grew my knowledge from there.

What are your thoughts about the switch from System Center to Azure?

What switch? Smile
We all can clearly see that Microsoft is pushing everyone to the cloud, although System Center is declared dead by some, it will still service the customers that have on-premises environments.

I think that Azure Stack will help companies to transform the way they do IT.

The line between public and private cloud will be much thinner in the coming future and will be more a combination of both.. also known as the Hybrid Cloud.

What are your thoughts on Azure Stack?

One word: Cool.
Although at this time the technical preview was just released it is looking very promising.
All the cool technologies that Windows Server 2016 is bringing us are combined with the use of Azure Stack.

The best part is to connect with peers around the globe with the same passion for the Microsoft products we are working with.

But not only on the fabric layer there are changes, also from top down companies can make use of Azure Stack to provide a broad set of services to their internal company or customers.
I think that Azure Stack will help companies to transform the way they do IT.

Your favorite System Center Product?

I’m pleasantly surprised by a product which is a descended of Data Protection Manager called Microsoft Azure Backup Server. This product solves a lot of backup challenges that customers are facing by using Microsoft Azure.

What does the MVP title mean to you?

I’m honored to be awarded with the MVP title, it shows appreciation of the community work I have done. It also opens up doors within Microsoft to provide feedback on the products they are working on. The best part is to connect with peers around the globe with the same passion for the Microsoft products we are working with.

Which guys from the IT are your “Role Models” and why?

There are so many guys that are doing incredible jobs that I cant name all.
But I always like to watch Tuesdays with Corey, a show with Corey Sanders from Microsoft that is very enthusiastic about everything he tells about and has great humor as well.

On which Conferences will you attend this year, TechEd, SCU….?

I don’t have a clear planning yet but I hope to make it to the MVP summit, SCU Europe and hopefully some other cool conference’s.

Last Words?

Thanks for this interview Michael!
Hope to see you at a random event this year.
